佛在舍衛。梨吒惡見生，僧諫不捨，佛令白四舉之。六群供給所須，共同羯磨。比丘舉過，佛因訶責，故制此戒。

(The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. [A]riṣṭa gave rise to an evil view, and the Saṃgha admonished him but he would not abandon it, so the Buddha ordered him to be suspended by a formal motion with three announcements. The group of six supplied his necessities and joined with him in karman. The bhikṣus raised the fault, and the Buddha rebuked [them] accordingly, therefore formulating this precept.)
