佛在拘睒毘。比丘如法諫闡陀時，作是言：「我今不學此戒，當問餘智慧持律者。」比丘舉過，佛訶制戒。
(The Buddha was in Kauśāmbī. When the bhikṣus lawfully admonished Chanda, he spoke thus: "I will not study this precept now; I will ask other wise Vinaya-holders." The bhikṣus raised the fault, and the Buddha rebuked him and formulated the precept.)
