佛在舍衛。迦留陀夷預知佛從此道來，即於道中敷高好床，白言：「看我床座！」佛言：「當知癡人內懷弊惡。」集僧訶責，因制此戒。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. Kālodayin, knowing in advance that the Buddha would come along this road, immediately spread a high and fine bed in the road and said, "Look at my bed!" The Buddha said: "Know that this foolish person harbors base evil inside." Having assembled the saṃgha and rebuked him, he accordingly formulated this precept.
