若自作、教他作，成，過，犯墮；若不成，若為他作，一切吉羅。尼同犯。不犯者：若作足高八指，若減；若他施，截而用之；若脫脚者。

If one makes it oneself or instructs another to make it, and upon completion it exceeds [the measure], one commits a falling offense; if it is not completed, or if one makes it for another, all are duṣkṛta. The bhikṣuṇīs commit the same offense. As for non-offense: if one makes the legs eight finger-widths high, or less; if it is given by another, and one cuts it down before using it; or if the legs have come off.
