佛在舍衛。六群掉臂入白衣舍，居士譏言：「不慚！掉臂如王、長者。」比丘舉過，佛訶而制。
The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. The group of six entered a layperson's house swinging their arms. Householders criticised them, saying, 'Shameless! Swinging their arms like kings and elders.' The bhikṣus reported this fault, and the Buddha reproved them and instituted the rule:
