佛在舍衛。六群左右顧視入白衣舍，居士譏言：「如盜竊人。」比丘舉過，佛因訶制。
The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. The group of six entered a layperson's house looking to the left and right. Householders criticised them, saying, 'Like thieves!' The bhikṣus reported this fault, and the Buddha thereupon reproved them and instituted the rule:
