佛在舍衛。六群戲笑行入白衣舍，居士譏言：「不慚！戲笑如獼猴，何有正法！」比丘舉過，佛因訶制。
The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. The group of six walked into a layperson's house laughing playfully. Householders criticised them, saying, 'Shameless! Laughing playfully like macaques, what true Dharma do they have!' The bhikṣus reported this fault, and the Buddha thereupon reproved them and instituted the rule:
