佛在舍衛。居士設供，六群取飯過多，不容受羹。居士譏言：「如餓貪食人。」比丘舉過，佛因訶制。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. A householder prepared an offering of food. The group of six took too much rice, so that it could not accommodate soup. The householder criticized them, saying: "Like starving people greedy for food." The bhikṣus brought up the fault, and the Buddha consequently rebuked them and formulated [the precept].
