佛在舍衛。居士設供，比丘食未至，先張口。居士譏言：「不慚，無厭！如猪、狗、駱駝、牛、驢。」比丘舉過，佛因訶制。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. A householder prepared an offering of food. Before the food arrived, the bhikṣus opened their mouths beforehand. The householder criticized them, saying: "Without shame, without moderation! Like pigs, dogs, camels, oxen, and donkeys." The bhikṣus brought up the fault, and the Buddha consequently rebuked them and formulated the precept.
