佛在舍衛。居士請僧，手自斟酌。六群揣飯遙擲口中。居士譏言：「不慚，無厭！如似幻師。」比丘舉過，佛因制戒。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. A householder invited the saṃgha and served them with his own hands. The group of six formed morsels of food and tossed them into their mouths from afar. The householder criticized them, saying: "Shameless and insatiable! Just like magicians!" The bhikṣus reported the fault, and the Buddha thereupon instituted the rule.
