佛在舍衛。居士設食，六群手把飯揣，齧半食。居士譏言：「受無厭足，如猪、狗、駱駝、驢、牛、烏鳥。」比丘舉過，佛因訶制。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. A householder provided a meal, and the group of six held morsels of food in their hands and ate by biting them in half. The householder criticized them, saying: "They accept food insatiably, like pigs, dogs, camels, donkeys, cattle, and crows." The bhikṣus reported the fault, and the Buddha thereupon rebuked them and instituted the rule.
