佛在舍衛。居士設供，六群頰食。居士嫌言：「沙門不知慚愧，如獼猴食。」比丘舉過，佛因訶制。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. A householder provided an offering, and the group of six stuffed their cheeks with food. The householder reproached them, saying: "The śramaṇas know no shame, eating like monkeys." The bhikṣus reported the fault, and the Buddha thereupon rebuked them and instituted the rule.
