佛在舍衛。居士飯僧，六群嚼飯作聲。居士譏言：「如猪、狗、駱駝、牛、驢、烏鳥。」比丘舉過，佛因訶制。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. A householder fed the saṃgha, and the group of six chewed food making a smacking sound. The householder criticized them, saying: "Like pigs, dogs, camels, cattle, donkeys, and crows." The bhikṣus reported the fault, and the Buddha thereupon rebuked them and instituted the rule.
