佛在舍衛。居士設供，六群手把散飯食。居士嫌言：「食如鷄、鳥。」比丘舉過，佛因訶制。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. A householder provided an offering, and the group of six scattered food with their hands while eating. The householder reproached them, saying: "Eating like chickens and birds." The bhikṣus reported the fault, and the Buddha thereupon rebuked them and instituted the rule.
