3.33

佛在釋翅瘦尼拘律園。城中女人持食供養，賊於道路觸嬈。比丘以事白佛，佛言「應語令知」，便即制戒。

The Buddha was in the Nyagrodha Park in the Śākya country. Women from the city brought food offerings, and bandits molested them along the way. The bhikṣus informed the Buddha of the matter, and the Buddha said, "They should be warned so they are aware," whereupon he formulated the precept.
