佛在王舍城。時，沓婆摩羅子為僧知事。六群中得惡房臥具、惡請處，起瞋謗言「有愛、恚、怖、癡」，遂以婬事誣謗。親於眾中，佛問虛實，彼言：「我從生來，乃至夢中不婬，況於覺寤？」比丘以事詰問六群，便言：「沓婆清淨，無如是事。」佛言：「沓婆無著人，不故犯戒，應白四羯磨與憶念法也。」

The Buddha was in Rājagṛha. At that time, Dabba Mallaputta was the Saṃgha's allocator of lodgings and assigner of meals. Those among the group of six received bad rooms and bedding, and bad invitations, and gave rise to anger, falsely accusing him, saying, “He acts with favoritism, hatred, fear, and delusion,” and subsequently slandered him with a false accusation of unchastity. Directly within the assembly, the Buddha questioned him on the truth. He said, “From my birth onward, even in dreams I have not engaged in unchastity, how much less when awake?” The bhikṣus cross-examined the group of six, who then said, “Dabba is pure; there was no such thing.” The Buddha said, “Dabba is a man without attachments (an Arhat); he does not intentionally break the precepts. One should grant him the settlement by recollection by means of a karman with one motion and three announcements (jñapticatuttha-karman).”
