佛在舍衛國。比丘共諍，經年難滅。以事白佛，聽彼此二眾相對共滅。應一眾中上座作白言：「我等行來出入，多犯諸罪，除『遮不至白衣家』，餘罪共長老作草覆地滅。」彼一眾中上座亦如上作白已，彼此和合，罪諍俱滅，更不相問，如草覆地。

The Buddha was in the country of Śrāvastī. Bhikṣus disputed with one another, and after a year it was still difficult to settle. They reported the matter to the Buddha, who allowed the two parties to settle it together face-to-face. The senior elder in one group should make a motion, saying: ‘In our going and coming, leaving and entering, we have committed many offenses; except for “an obstruction barring one from visiting lay households,” together with the elders we settle the remaining offenses by covering over with grass.’ The senior elder in the other group also makes a motion as above, after which both parties are in concord, the offenses and disputes are both settled, and they question one another no further, like covering over with grass.
