此是釋迦牟尼如來，無所著、等正覺，於十二年中，為無事僧說是《戒經》；從此已後，廣分別說。
This was spoken by the Tathāgata Śākyamuni, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha, for twelve years as this Prātimokṣa Sūtra for the Saṃgha that was free of transgressions; from then onwards, he expounded and analyzed them in detail.
