There are twenty kinds of women: protected by the mother, protected by the father, protected by both parents, protected by a brother, protected by a sister, protected by both brother and sister, self-protected, protected by the Dharma, protected by clan, protected by kinsmen, one who willingly becomes a slave-servant, a slave-servant given clothing, a slave-servant given wealth, a slave-servant who shares the same work, a slave-servant swept away by water, a slave-servant not paying taxes, a slave-servant set free, a hired slave-servant, a slave-servant protected by another, and a slave-servant captured in a border region. There are likewise twenty kinds of men, identical to the list above.
