At that time, Ānanda obtained an expensive bowl and wished to offer it to Kāśyapa because [Kāśyapa] could use it regularly. He was to return in ten days, but fearing he would commit a niḥsargika offence, he reported the matter to the Buddha, who thereupon allowed it and set the limit up to ten days.
