The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. The people rebelled, and the king led the sixfold army on a punitive expedition; the group of six went to watch the battle array. Prasenajit saw them and was displeased; he offered a package of rock sugar to the Buddha, along with paying homage in his name. When he arrived at the Buddha's place, he set forth these circumstances in full, and on this account [the Buddha] rebuked them and formulated the precept.
