If one makes it oneself or instructs another to make it, the offense upon completion is as above. For a bhikṣuṇī, it is a duṣkṛta. As for non-offense: if one uses iron, copper, lead, tin, white pewter, bamboo, wood, reed, or śara grass to make a needle case, there is no offense. If one makes the head or ferrule of a monk's staff, or an umbrella handle and cap-finial, or wraps the umbrella socket, or makes a hook, a sweat-scraper, a ru-yi sceptre, a ring toggle, a spoon, a ladle, a robe hook, an eye-salve tube, a tongue-scraper, a toothpick, an ear-pick, a meditation weight, or a nasal inhalation tube—such items are all without offense.
