（時有欲受戒者，將至界外，脫衣看，稽留受戒事。佛言：「不應爾。自今已去，聽於先問十三難事，然後受戒。」戒師當問云：「眾中誰能與某甲作教授師？」若有者，答言：「我某甲能。」戒師應和僧索欲已，白言：）

(At one time, when someone wished to receive the precepts, they led him outside the boundary, stripped off his robes to inspect him, and delayed the reception of the precepts. The Buddha said: “You should not do so. From this day forward, I permit that you first inquire into the matters of the thirteen impediments, and afterwards confer the precepts.” The preceptor should ask: “Who in the assembly is able to serve as the instructing ācārya for N.N.?” If there is someone, he replies: “I, N.N., am able.” The preceptor should reconcile the saṃgha and request the consent (chanda), and then proclaim the jñapti:)
