（弟子當為執作二事，不得辭設。請經問義，有所知解，至滿五歲，得離依止。若無所知，誦戒不利，盡形依止。阿闍梨須具五德——知犯、知不犯、知輕、知重、滿十歲，方得攝他。若無此德，不依無過。和尚之德類此。）

(The disciple must perform the two tasks for him and must not make excuses. He should request sūtras and inquire into their meanings; having attained knowledge and understanding, when five full years have elapsed, he may leave the niśraya. If he understands nothing and is not fluent in reciting the precepts, he must rely on him for the rest of his life. An ācārya must possess five virtues—knowing offenses, knowing non-offenses, knowing light [offenses], knowing heavy [offenses], and having completed ten years—before he may take in others. If he lacks these virtues, there is no fault in not relying on him. The virtues of an upādhyāya are similar to this.)
