（良久，僧上座告言：「徒眾上下各並默然者，實由尼等內勤三業，外無三事，故不見犯。雖然，上座有勅，勅諸比丘尼眾：如法自恣，謹慎莫放逸。」使尼禮僧足，辭退，至本寺已，集尼眾等傳僧教勅，如〈說戒法〉所明也。此自恣、說戒略教授法，《律本》文缺，義明前後，而臨事必須條理，不容杜默。故且略標一句以表常式，得齊行用，未必依文。）

(After a good while, the sthavira of the saṃgha announces: "That the assembly, senior and junior alike, remain completely silent is indeed because you bhikṣuṇīs have internally cultivated the three activities and externally lack the three matters, and thus no offense is seen. Nevertheless, the sthavira has an instruction, instructing the assembly of bhikṣuṇīs: Perform pravāraṇā according to the Dharma; be vigilant and do not be indolent." The messenger bhikṣuṇī bows at the feet of the saṃgha, takes her leave, and upon arriving at her own monastery, convenes the assembly of bhikṣuṇīs to convey the instructions of the saṃgha, as explained in the 'Procedure for the Upoṣadha'. For this abbreviated teaching procedure for pravāraṇā and upoṣadha, the text of the original Vinaya is lacking, though the meaning is clearly evident before and after. When facing the circumstance, there must be order, and complete silence is not permissible. Therefore, a single phrase is briefly indicated to show the regular formula, so that the practice may be uniform, without necessarily adhering strictly to the text.)
