（《律本》具明有德合賞。若無德者，理非僥倖。必知事勞，無有法益者，可入輕物作法，然後和僧。准《論》隨功賞贈。）

(The root text of the Vinaya clearly explains that those with virtue are eligible for the reward. If one lacks virtue, according to principle it must not be gained by luck. If it is known that the labor was arduous, but there was no benefit of Dharma, one may transfer it into the lightweight property procedure, and then harmonize the saṃgha, following the treatises to reward and bestow according to merit.)
