（《僧祇》云：「念知月一日乃至十四日、十五日、月大、月小，悉應知之。」《五分》云：「諸比丘應知半月數，知布薩日悔過清淨。」《律》云：「念知黑月、白月兩種數法。」若入聚落，先須知之。此則具含道俗兩法，應作念言：）

(The Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya says: "One should remember and know the first day of the month up to the fourteenth or fifteenth day, and whether the month is long or short; one should know all of them." The Mahiśāsaka-vinaya says: "Bhikṣus should know the half-month count, and know the upoṣadha day to repent faults and attain purity." The Vinaya says: "Remember and know the two counting methods for the dark fortnight and the bright fortnight." If entering a village, one must know this first. This fully embraces both the monastic and secular methods. One should generate the thought, saying:)
