(If he is granted forgiveness, it is good. If he is not granted forgiveness, he should again repent three times a day as above. If he is still not permitted, he should humble his mind and be compliant, seeking skillful means to resolve his offense. If he humbles his mind and is compliant, yet the master does not accept his repentance, [the master] should be dealt with according to the Dharma. Other monks should also be made to accompany him out of harmony, going together to the upādhyāya or ācārya to mediate and bring about an early acceptance of the repentance. If that upādhyāya reprimands him for the rest of his life, or reprimands him for the duration of the varṣā, or reprimands one who is sick, or does not point out the fault, or does not do so face-to-face, these are all non-Dharmic, and the master is in turn penalized. If a disciple has been penalized and, before they have repented to each other, [the master] receives provisions from him or grants him niśraya, it is non-Dharmic, and the master must be penalized. If a disciple is lightly reprimanded, but does not perform duties and labor for the upādhyāya, ācārya, and other monks, the Buddha said: "He commits an offense, and should be dealt with according to the Dharma.")
