"You have now received the precepts; the jñapti-caturtha-karman has been accomplished in accordance with the Dharma; you have obtained the place; the upādhyāya is in accordance with the Dharma; the ācārya is in accordance with the Dharma; and the assembly of monks is complete and full. You must properly accept the teachings of the Dharma; you ought to encourage and transform [others] to cultivate merit, care for stūpas, and make offerings to the assembly of monks. If the upādhyāya and ācārya instruct [you] entirely in accordance with the Dharma, you must not disobey or contravene them. You must study, inquire, recite the sūtras, and diligently seek skillful means, so that within the Buddha's Dharma you may attain the fruit of srotāpanna, the fruit of sakṛdāgāmin, the fruit of anāgāmin, and the fruit of arhat. From the moment you first aroused the mind to go forth, your efforts are not in vain, and your karmic retribution will not be cut short. What you do not yet know, you should ask your upādhyāya and ācārya."
