(If one confesses before four persons, the text for forfeiting property is the same as above. For confessing the offense there must be verbal agreement; three persons may not use a jñapti-karman. For returning property one may perform a direct handover, with the karman as above. The Buddha said: If one wishes to confess before three bhikṣus, one should go to three pure bhikṣus, and as in the earlier procedure for forfeiture and deśanā, fully adopt the deportment and speak the forfeiture thus:)
