(The Buddha said: "If, having already made the entrustment, one wishes to go to the village but turns back halfway; or goes [elsewhere] and does not arrive at the entrusted house; or having entrusted [an intention] to go to a layperson's house, instead goes to a storehouse or a nunnery; or comes right out from the layperson's house—in such cases, all forfeit the prior entrustment. If one wishes to go, one must make the entrustment again. Excepted is the time of the robe-distribution, namely, the one month or five months of kārttika. Aside from this, when encouraging and collecting to prepare meals and distribute robes, if it is the time of kārttika, all are permitted.")
