大德僧聽！僧差某甲比丘，為僧作分物人。誰諸長老忍僧差某甲比丘，為僧作分物人者默然，誰不忍者說。僧已忍差某甲比丘，為僧作分物人竟。僧忍，默然故，是事如是持。（為僧分粥、分小食、佉闍尼、差請會、敷臥具、分臥具、分浴衣、分衣、可與、可取、差比丘使、沙彌使，一切亦如是。有五法為僧分粥入地獄如箭射，謂有愛等；有五法分粥生天如箭射，謂不愛等。乃至差沙彌使亦如是。）

"Let the saṃgha, bhadantas, listen! The saṃgha appoints bhikṣu so-and-so to act as distributor of goods for the saṃgha. Whichever āyuṣmats consent to the saṃgha appointing bhikṣu so-and-so to act as distributor of goods for the saṃgha, let them remain silent; whoever does not consent, let him speak. The saṃgha has consented to appoint bhikṣu so-and-so to act as distributor of goods for the saṃgha. The saṃgha consents, because it is silent; thus is this matter maintained." (Distributing gruel, distributing snacks, khādanīya, appointing [those to go to] invitation gatherings, spreading bedding, distributing bedding, distributing bath robes, distributing robes, what should be given, what should be taken, appointing bhikṣu envoys, and appointing śrāmaṇera envoys for the saṃgha—all are also like this. There are five factors whereby one who distributes gruel for the saṃgha enters hell like a shot arrow, namely having partiality, and so forth; there are five factors whereby one who distributes gruel is reborn in heaven like a shot arrow, namely not having partiality, and so forth. Up to appointing śrāmaṇera envoys is also like this.)
