1.65

The procedure for conferring the precepts by the Three Refuges: (At that time, there were those who heard the Dharma, attained faith, and wished to receive the upasampadā. When the bhikṣus were leading them to the Buddha's dwelling, they lost faith halfway along the road and could not receive the upasampadā. The Buddha said: 'From this day forth, I allow you to immediately confer the going forth and upasampadā upon them.' He instructed that they shave their hair, put on kāṣāya robes, take off their leather sandals, place the right knee on the ground, join their palms, and utter these words:)
