Let the saṃgha, bhadantas, listen! In such-and-such a city, in the family of such-and-such a householder, husband and wife have attained faith and become disciples of the Buddha, and their wealth and goods are exhausted; the saṃgha now performs the karman of a learner's family for them, and bhikṣus may not receive food and eat in the family of So-and-so. Whichever āyuṣmats approve that the saṃgha performs the karman of a learner's family for the householder So-and-so, let them remain silent; whoever does not approve, let him speak. The saṃgha has approved performing the karman of a learner's family for the householder So-and-so. Because the saṃgha approves, it is silent; so is this matter maintained. (If one was previously invited, or if one is sick, or if it is placed on the ground and given, or if one receives it from another person, or if the wealth and goods of the learner's family again become abundant after giving, there is no offense.)
