The Procedure for Determining the Sixteen Utensils: (The Vinaya states: When a bhikṣuṇī obtains utensils on a given day, she should determine them on that very day. Those that may be needed are sixteen; the rest should be purified by transfer or given away to others. The sixteen utensils are: a large cauldron and lid, a small cauldron likewise; a water flask and lid, a washing flask likewise; four basins and ladles, two small and two large.
