"The Buddha taught the bhikṣuṇī to perform allowable purification, and therefore it was given to you." (Or say:) "Give it to the saṃgha, to a stūpa, to an upādhyāyā, and the like, to relatives and old acquaintances, or return it to the original owner." (Why is this? Because she does not wish to cause the donor's faithful offering to be lost.)
