「佛告」下，第二、正說，為二：初明十重，次明四十八輕。初為三：初舉數勸持，次別釋，三結勸。初文又四：初舉數。次「若受」下誡勸誦文。初明不誦有損闕於慈悲弘誓，云「非菩薩」。身口離文，識心疎野，思修佛性覺悟情乖，但緣六道為懷，故云「非佛種子」。「我亦如是」等者，舉果勸因也。三、「一切」下，舉例勸學三。四、「已略」下，結說勸持。第二、別釋十重為十：

From "The Buddha told" below is the second [major division], the main exposition, which has two [parts]: first, explaining the ten major [precepts]; second, explaining the forty-eight minor [precepts]. The first has three [parts]: first, mentioning the number to exhort upholding; second, distinct explanations; third, concluding exhortation. The first text also has four [parts]: first, mentioning the number; second, from "If one who has received" below, admonishing and exhorting to chant the text. First, it explains that failing to chant impairs and falls short of the great vows of compassion, saying "is not a bodhisattva." With body and speech parted from the text, the conscious mind becomes distant and wild; reflecting on and cultivating the Buddha-nature and awakening alienates one's sentiments, and one only harbors the six destinies in mind; hence it says "is not a seed of the Buddha." "I also likewise" and so forth mentions the fruit to exhort the cause. Third, from "all" below, adducing examples to exhort learning has three [points]. Fourth, from "having briefly" below, concluding the exposition to exhort upholding. The second [part], distinct explanations of the ten major [precepts], comprises ten:
