四、明受法者。謹依《瓔珞》、《地持》、高昌等文，總作一十二門分別：第一、開悟，第二、三歸，第三、請師，第四、懺悔，第五、發心，第六、示相問遮，第七、授戒，第八、證明，第九、現相，第十、陳持犯，第十一、明廣願，第十二、教持戒。

Fourth, explaining the method of receiving [the precepts]: Carefully relying on texts such as the Yingluo jing, the Bodhisattvabhūmi (Dichi), and Gaochang, we make an overall differentiation into twelve sections: first, opening to awakening; second, the three refuges; third, requesting the masters; fourth, repentance; fifth, generating the mind [for enlightenment]; sixth, revealing the marks and inquiring into impediments; seventh, bestowing the precepts; eighth, bearing witness; ninth, manifesting signs; tenth, setting forth holding and violating; eleventh, clarifying the broad vows; twelfth, instructing on upholding the precepts.
