三、釋名者，以法化生理宜以大，違本所宗授以小乘，戒防此失故立斯號。

Third, explanation of the name: When using the Dharma to transform living beings, by principle one ought to rely on the Great [Vehicle]; contrary to the original fundamental tenet, one imparts the Hīnayāna. Since the precept guards against this fault, it is established under this name.
