若佛子！常起大悲心，若入一切城邑、舍宅，見一切眾生，應當唱言：「汝等眾生，盡應受三歸、十戒。」若見牛、馬、猪、羊一切畜生，應心念口言：「汝是畜生，發菩提心。」而菩薩入一切處山川、林野，皆使一切眾生發菩提心。是菩薩若不發教化眾生心者，犯輕垢罪。

"O disciples of the Buddha! Constantly give rise to a mind of great compassion. If entering any city, town, or residence, and seeing any sentient beings, you should chant aloud: 'All you sentient beings should entirely receive the three refuges and the ten precepts.' If you see cows, horses, pigs, sheep, or any animals, you should mentally think and verbally say: 'You are an animal; generate the bodhicitta.' Wherever a bodhisattva goes—into mountains, rivers, forests, or wildernesses—they must cause all sentient beings to generate the bodhicitta. If this bodhisattva does not generate the mind to teach and transform sentient beings, they commit a duṣkṛta offense."
