If a disciple of the Buddha himself gets angry, instructs another to get angry, [produces] causes of anger, conditions of anger, methods of anger, or karma of anger; whereas a bodhisattva ought to generate the roots of goodness and absence of contention toward all sentient beings, and constantly generate a mind of compassion and a mind of filial piety, yet instead, toward any sentient being, or even toward a non-sentient being, abuses them with foul language, further strikes them with hands, and with knives and sticks, and his intent is still not appeased, and when the other person begs for forgiveness and repents with gentle words, he still remains angry and unresolved: this is a bodhisattva's parājika offense.
