"Disciples of the Buddha! Guard and maintain the restrictive precepts; whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, during the six periods of the day and night, recite these precepts as if they were adamantine, as if carrying a floating life-preserver wishing to cross a great ocean, or as if you were the monk bound by grass. Constantly generate good faith in the Mahāyāna, knowing of yourself: 'I am a Buddha yet to be accomplished; all Buddhas are Buddhas already accomplished.' Generate the bodhicitta, not departing from it in thought after thought. If one gives rise to a single thought of the two vehicles or non-Buddhists, one commits a duṣkṛta offense."
