"If a disciple of the Buddha sees any sentient being violate the eight precepts, the five precepts, the ten precepts, break the prohibitions, [commit] the seven ānantarya sins, or [fall into] the eight difficulties, regarding all offenses of violating precepts, one should instruct them to repent. If a bodhisattva does not instruct them to repent, but dwells together with them, shares the Saṃgha's material requisites, participates in the poṣadha with them, recites the precepts in the same assembly, yet does not point out their offense and does not instruct them to repent of their fault, one commits a duṣkṛta offense."
