"If a disciple of the Buddha sees a Mahāyāna Dharma master, or a Mahāyāna fellow student of identical views and identical practice, coming into a monastery, a residence, or a city, having come from a hundred leagues or a thousand leagues away, one should immediately rise to welcome them and see them off, bowing and making offerings. Three times every day one should make offerings, spending three taels of gold daily on food, offering one hundred delicacies of food and drink, beds and seats, and medicines to serve the Dharma master, providing everything they need. One should constantly request the Dharma master to preach the Dharma three times [a day], and bow three times every day, not giving rise to an angry mind or a mind of distress, giving up one's life for the sake of the Dharma, requesting the Dharma without slackening. If one does not do so, one commits a duṣkṛta offense."
