If a disciple of the Buddha, with an evil mind, sets a great fire to burn mountain forests and wildernesses, setting fires from the fourth month up to the ninth month; or burns another person's houses, residences, cities, towns, monastic dwellings, fields, trees, or the property of ghosts, spirits, and officials—one must not intentionally burn any property that has an owner. If one intentionally burns it, one commits a duṣkṛta offense.
