The commentary states: In the third [mind], the profound mind, "profound mind" introduces the chapter heading, which is the mind of dedication, because it aspires to what is distant and deep. "The supreme emptiness" is the opening phrase. Relying on the emptiness of what is imagined, wisdom illuminates the Middle Way of existence: that is, the twelve links, being neither eternal nor annihilated, are called the "real truth," while clinging to sentient beings and so forth is called the "conventional truth." Because one realizes the two emptinesses within these two truths, it repeats "profoundly profound." The characteristics of going out and entering are tranquil, hence it says "no going or coming." Concluding with the Middle Way, it says that the twelve links of dependent origination illusorily receive fruits, and thus are free from the extreme of underestimation; yet lacking any real recipient, they are free from the extreme of superimposition; therefore, subduing hindrances, there is mind liberation.
