The Commentary says: The third is the emanation body in the defiled land. 'One land' refers to one Meru realm, because according to the distinct worlds, he manifests in the southern continent (Jambudvīpa). The Yogācārabhūmi says: 'One trichiliocosm has a hundred koṭi realms.' The Abhidharmasamuccaya-vyākhyā says: 'The measure of one koṭi corresponds to a hundred million (baiyi).' Why does it speak here only of a hundred koṭis (baiyi)? There are multiple systems of 'koṭi' (yi); the Yogācārabhūmi provisionally relies on one hundred thousand as one yi. This sūtra takes ten million [as a yi], so they do not contradict each other. This is based on gross characteristics, provisionally describing one category. As for the Meru worlds in reality, whether shaped like trees, human figures, upside-down, or sideways, each accords with its type; filling all directions, different types do not obstruct one another, like the Net of Indra, layer upon layer without end, transcending what can be thought or conceived. Yet all are subsumed within the Lotus Pedestal Treasury World Sea and are the places where Locana turns the wheel of Dharma.
