行所住處者，行謂三問所發起行相，住處謂所依止，彼修行相所依止道理處所。文有二，初、說初處，後、結已說住處。初中復二，初、說十八住處，後、說八住處。初中有三，初、標名列，次、解次第，後、別配文。標名列有二，初、標名釋，次、列名。列名有三，一、標，二、列，三、結。解次第中有三，初、以七義攝十八處，次、解次第，後、結成釋。

Regarding "the abodes of practice": "practice" refers to the aspects of practice initiated by the three questions; "abodes" refers to the points of reliance, the loci of principles upon which those aspects of cultivation rely. The text has two parts: first, explaining the first abode; second, concluding the abodes already explained. The first part also has two parts: first, explaining the eighteen abodes; second, explaining the eight abodes. The first has three parts: first, listing the names with an introduction; second, explaining their sequence; third, separately matching them to the text. Listing the names with an introduction has two parts: first, explaining with an introduction of the names; second, enumerating the names. Enumerating the names has three parts: 1. introducing, 2. listing, 3. concluding. Explaining the sequence has three parts: first, subsuming the eighteen abodes under the seven semantic topics; second, explaining the sequence; third, concluding the explanation.
