問文殊意者，一者文殊是佛，了了現見諸法。二者離諸因緣。離諸因緣者，以文殊非推度以類而知。《成論》云「現見事中因緣無用」也。唯自心成就彼法者，釋離因緣，以文殊自心明見彼事，故不假餘因緣也。

Regarding the intention in questioning Mañjuśrī: first, Mañjuśrī is a Buddha, clearly and directly perceiving all dharmas. Second, he is free from all causes and conditions. "Free from all causes and conditions" means that Mañjuśrī does not know by inference and analogy. The *Tattvasiddhi-śāstra* says: "In matters directly perceived, causes and conditions are of no use." "With his own mind alone accomplishing that dharma" explains freedom from causes and conditions: because Mañjuśrī clearly sees that matter with his own mind, he does not rely on other causes and conditions.
