如經者，不正釋經文，但釋經意。明憶念過去化八子成佛，後憶念燃燈化釋迦成佛乃至彌勒成佛也。

"As the sūtra says" does not directly explain the sūtra text, but merely explains the sūtra's meaning: clarifying the recollection of transforming the eight sons into buddhas in the past, and subsequently recollecting Dīpaṃkara transforming Śākyamuni into a buddha up to Maitreya becoming a buddha.
